What is the gynecomastia ?
La gynecomastia, is defined by an hypertrophy of the male breasts. This increase in chest volume corresponds to unilateral or bilateral hyperplasia of the mammary gland in men. Gynecomastia can present symmetrically or asymmetrically.
Glandular development is characterized by a firm consistency upon palpation. In men, the mammary gland exists but is defined by a simple mammary bud. In men with gynecomastia, the mammary gland is dense and its development is concentrated around the areola. Gynecomastia surgery involves the removal of the mammary gland. In simple cases, gynecomastia is treated with liposuction, but in some cases, it must be combined with removal of the mammary gland, leaving a scar around the areola and sometimes under the breast.
Thus, breast reduction in men involves either fat, glandular tissue, or both.

FAQ
What lesions are treated by dermatological surgery?
Dermatological surgery can treat benign lesions (cysts, lipomas, moles) and malignant lesions (carcinomas, melanomas). It can also be used for cosmetic procedures, such as scar revision.
Is the procedure painful?
Most procedures are performed under local anesthesia. The intervention is therefore painless. Slight discomfort may be felt in the hours that follow, but it is generally well tolerated.
How long does a procedure take?
The duration varies depending on the type of lesion and its location, but the majority of procedures are carried out in less than 30 minutes, on an outpatient basis.
Do you need a prescription to see a dermatological surgeon?
It is recommended that you first consult your primary care physician, who can refer you to a specialist if necessary. However, you can also make an appointment directly at certain centers.
Are the procedures reimbursed?
Medical procedures (such as the removal of suspicious or cancerous lesions) may be covered by health insurance. However, purely cosmetic procedures are generally not.
