What is vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is the procedure that tightens a stretched and enlarged vaginal wall following multiple pregnancies.

Modern surgical techniques allow for good results and minimize the risk of complications.
Several techniques are available, and the scars are most often invisible and very discreet.

Progress of the intervention

Before a vaginoplasty
  • Consulting: 1 to 2 consultations with the plastic surgeon, +/- 1 consultation with the anesthesiologist
  • Tips: Stop smoking at least 3-4 weeks beforehand, stop taking anticoagulants (aspirin or NSAIDs) 10 days before the procedure
  • Signature documents (quote, informed consent), and taking pre-operative photographs
  • Reflection period: 15 days between the first consultation and the procedure

The intervention of vaginoplasty
  • Anesthesia: local, local with sedation or general
  • Duration of the intervention: Between 30 minutes and 1 hour
  • Hospitalization : Outpatient (same-day discharge)

Sequences and Outcome of the vaginoplasty
  • Post-operative instructions Cleanse the intimate area with mild soap during the healing period; no sexual intercourse until fully healed.
  • Removing the wires: No stitches to remove, all stitches are absorbable.
  • Rest : 1 to 7 days.
  • Resumption of physical activities: Between 2 and 4 weeks
  • Resumption of professional activities: in some cases as early as the next day, or after 7 days of recovery.
  • Timeframe for final result: between 3 and 6 months most often, but sometimes up to 1 year after the procedure
